• Legend has it that Dante Alighieri met Beatrice Portinari at the Santa Margherita dei Cerchi church. She was the woman the great poet loved and transformed into the literary character in his works. His presumed birthplace is found in the adjacent ancient buildings, now the Casa di Dante Museum. Visit the museum to learn more on the most famous poet of all times! This building also includes the Alighieri tower with a bronze bust of the poet.
